Saluyot has wellness and health properties

This jute plant (Conchorus Olitorius) was one of the “beauty secrets” of the famous Egyptian Queen Cleopatra. Actually, it took root in Egypt, where it is locally known as molokheya.

Saluyot leaves are reached in beta carotene for good cells, calcium for strong bones and teeth, and vitamin C for smooth, clean skin, strong immune cells and fast wound healing. In other words, saluyot contains all the important nutrients the body needs.

Moreover, it has high (77 percent) antioxidant activity. Antioxidant is phytochemicals or substances that neutralize or counterbalance the free radicals generated by the body during normal metabolism.

Free radicals are the most vicious and most toxic by-products of metabolism. When not neutralized, they can travel through the body cells, disrupting the structure of proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids, and cause cell damage that contributes to the aging and degenerative diseases such as cancer, heart diseases, diabetes, stroke, cataract, and the like.
